Wine-Growing areas (vineyards) of the Feilen winery
at the mosel-valley in Neumagen-Dhron
The slaty soil of the mosel vineyards and the nearness of the mosel river are an important requirement for the quality of our wine. Steeply wineyards which profit by the higher exposure to sunlight on the one hand and on the other by better soil quality are important for a high degree of rhe grapes' ripeness. These wine-areas yield fruity and intensive first-class wines which are unique in sweetness and and also wholesome in every case.
Dhroner Hofberg - History:
The name for the wine-growing hill "Dhroner Hofberg" was created during the middle ages. In this times the people called the yards laying on the left and the right surrounding banks of the mosel river "Hengelberg". The owner of the wineyards were on the left the cloister Fraulautem and on the right the Tholey abbey. In the land register of 1721 exsists an entry which tells about an amount of 32.784 grapevines in the area of "Hofberg". That points out that the land register names of the two abbeys needed to be unified to indicate that the wineyards on "Hofberg" carry the highest yield of best and most excellent wine in the whole wine-district.Wine-Variety:
The variety of wines gained in our township is surprisingly high. There are vineyards not only on both sides of the mosel riverbanks, the areas in which the vines grow are spreaded up to several side-valleys.Dhroner Hofberger
